Needed a new hood as in middle of kitchen refit and only place that had designer glass hoods in stock was B&Q. Got the cheaper promotional one at £99.00 and it looks fab. Much better than the tatty one that it replaced.

Fantastic hood at a great price from B&Q. Easy to fit and clears the cooking smells and steam really easily. Don't know what all the fuss is about filters as there is a leaflet in the box telling you where to buy them from if you need them.

As many people have found to their dismay, no filters are included and if there are then I bet you any money it's the wrong one. I also can't find any filters as designair apparently are no longer. My advise is send it back and choose another make and if you got it from B&Q then rip into them as they know this is a problem but are still willing to get your cash.

Just purchased GCHEP60SS on special offer this weekend. We asked for carbon filters to fit this machine as we cannot vent it to outside and were given the wrong ones @£9.99. You can only find this out if you open the box and remove the grease filter first. Some customers may have gone to the expense of having this item fitted professionaly and I suggest they do not as the filters are not supplied by B&Q and you have to order them from Designair which at this time (10am 10/5/10) are out of stock. I have also read that Designair went into liquidation. B&Q told me,with respect!, that if I read the instructions I would have seen the number to contact to order said filters.
Apparently or more even obviously B&Q have been aware of this problem for a long time yet they are still prepared to dupe people into parting with their money for a product which will cause 'headaches' and maybe holes in their walls unnecessarily after they have taken the damn thing back.
B&Q management are aware (sutton) and I will now be contacting head office. I suggest you do the same if you too have bought one of these coookerhoods.
Their no: 0845 609 6688 Good luck!

Fantastic and the best price that I could find on the high street. Cheap as chips for a designer cooker hood.

As an extractor hood i think this is great value for money and works very well. The instructions could be a tad clearer but once you ger your head round it they are usable. As for filters it is dissapointing that they are not included with the extractor but there is an easy fix. Remove the removable mesh filter, undo the 2 screws in the corner and the 2 on the latch mechanism. Gently open the outside frame and remove the mesh filters.
There are 3 of these one at the top and bottom and a kind of corrugated one in the middle. Purchase a universal cooker hood filter (i got one for 6.99 at my local harware store) and use the corrugated mesh filter as a template for cutting out the grease and carbon filters.
Place the grease and carbon filters between the top and bottom metal filters (the flat ones) with the grease filter at the bottom ie nearest your hob place the filters and mesh filters back in the metal frame with the latch mechanism its not too fiddly to get it in, and viola filter problems sorted. discard the corrugated filter and just use the old filters for the next template.

I purchased this cooker hood before seeing the reviews. It has just been installed, so I haven't used it yet. I have just ordered the filters from cookerhoodfilter.com £17.99 for a pair and 10% discount if you enter code CD1234.

Cheap as chips - paid £99 from B&Q, extracts really well to outside wall, what more do you want for your money? Has a built in filter that is washable, don't know what all the fuss concerning filters is all about! Great product, recommended.

Why are B&Q selling this item when the filters appear to be unobtainable. Due to the extractor being on an inside wall a venting duct is not appropriate. Surely customers should be made aware that this product needs to go on an outside wall. If only I had seen this website before , I would never have bought this hood.

This chimney hood was fitted as part of our new kitchen in August 2009 and ducted outside for greater efficiency so no filters were necessary.
Our experience is that the recirculating types are not very good anyway.
The only reason we haven't given 5 stars is that the light is not really bright.

bought this from b&q on sale, took it out of the box and couldn't fit it, the instructions are useless as they are only diagrams, not written. Then i find out that there are no filters with the hood and when i phoned customer helpline they are out of stock and apparently you cant order them from anywhere else! What good is this?? Now I have to get an electrician to fit the damn thing.

Looks nice once you've got it up, annoyed as i cant use it? after trying to work out the very poor fitting instructions there's no mains plug fitted and no filter in the extractor??? doesn't mention this on the box. also no address to order a filter, only a phone number and wait for it? it can take up 28 days for you to get a filter (£19.99) delivered once ordered.
